Going back to when it all began
In 1999 I was sitting in an office as an Inside Sales Rep, I was working at a TV station in the interactive department. Now, this was just before the dot.com bubble burst, and I had taken my time starting school and getting a degree, I was undecided on which direction to go. In reality, I didn’t want anything because I felt lost and felt the world was very small.
What I did know was that the movie "Working Girl" with Melanie Griffith appealed to me. Being an ambitious female professional was something I wanted, but I didn’t know how to get it and what it would take for me to get to that place.
So my next choice leads me down a path that probably was the wrong one at the time, I chose to become a multimedia designer. I moved to the furthest corner of Denmark to a town so small that the crows go there to make a U-turn, as we say in Denmark. I had been accepted to this school, the only one of its kind in the Scandinavian countries, and I felt the pressure to become something and someone.
During a programming class, I was staring out the window bored out of my mind, beating myself up because the expectations were that I needed to graduate and choose a direction with my career and life.
At that moment sitting in class, I start to daydream about working in NYC, so I began to search for internships in the US and on a whim I sent off an application to intern at a web agency in the US. Six hours later I had an interview in New York City, somewhere I had never been.
To my surprise, I got the internship, and I moved across an ocean; full of nerves and expectations. Then I was given my first assignment - I was to design educational postcards for women, to empower them to learn how to use the Internet. The client was none other than Oprah Winfrey... YES OPRAH!! Suddenly my direction became more clear, and I loved it!
After almost 15 years in tech & media, I decided to go for a career change. I went back to school and received a teaching degree, after which followed several years teaching high schoolers both in Denmark and in the United Kingdom.
Then, in 2014 I had yet another opportunity to reinvent myself. Because of a move to Amsterdam with my husband, I jumped at the chance, and I started to implement all my work and life experiences in one business. What I love most about what I do is helping women get clear on what they really want in their career and life and assist them to Choose the right career path for themselves, to help them feel courageous enough to reach higher and help them develop their talents. Having worked with many women and seen the transformation in their lives, I feel grateful to be able to support them in their life and career decisions.
My vision is incorporated in every part of my entrepreneurial, networking, private and family life. When asked what is most important to me the answer will always be, to help women have the focus that will bring them the Confidence, Courage, and Clarity they require to create a career & life they love. I built a career and life I truly love and so can you.
There are always opportunities around us, all we need is to be able to identify them. Let's talk about yours today.
